| Why
you need an FCC license |
Kenwood
ProTalk and Freetalk XL and XLS radios like Motorola Talkabout
Distance, Distance DPS, Spirit, T6400 and XTN two-way radios
operate on radio frequencies that are regulated by the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC). In order to transmit on these
frequencies, you are required to have a license issued by the
FCC.

How
to apply for an FCC license:
Kenwood Freetalk XL, FreeTalk XLS, Talkabout Distance and T6400
two way radios operate on General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS)
frequencies. To apply for a GMRS license, you will need FCC
Forms 605 and 159. Form 605 can be filed electronically at:
http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/applications/

Kenwood ProTalk and Motorola Spirit and XTN two way radios operate
on Private Land Mobile frequencies. Application is made on FCC
Form 601 schedules D, H and Form 159. You can download the application
forms directly from the FCC website at: http://www.fcc.gov.
You can also request them through the FCC forms hotline at 1-800-418-FORM.
